One of our best friends and coolest guests that visited Fratelli is DJ Philippe Paris, one of the residents of the Nikki Beach family. Philippe originates from France but he lives in the island of St.Barth, as he is one of the regular guests in New York’s clubs.
But this Frenchman’s heart is in Europe, so he often returns to the old continent for shows at Cannes Festival and for the summer residency of Nikki Beach St.Topez.
Philippe Paris first visited Romania in 2012 and he’s been one of our regulars since, with shows in Bucharest, Constanta and Mamaia. He shared some personal details, in the interview for our blog, about his life, music and passions. Here is his story!
What are a few things that could define you in one phrase?
Regarding my job, I believe that I am professional.
When did you started as a DJ? What made you choose this as a career?
I started DJ-ing more than 20 years ago. I remember I was 12 years old, in 1985, at a kids club. That is when I saw a DJ for the first time, on a Sunday afternoon. I said to my friends: “I wanna be this guy!” and the rest is history! 🙂
I spent the next 3 years researching and learning, looking at other Djs. I really started DJ-ing in 1988, at the age of 15.
What is your most amazing experience / peak of your career as a DJ?
Definitely, the most amazing experience was my first gig in New York City! And I am sure that the peak of my DJ career is coming!
What do you like to do in your free time? Hobbies?
I live most of the year on the island of St. Barth in the Caribbean Sea. The weather is perfect there so most of my hobbies involve water. I love swimming, diving, stand up paddle, and everything related.
Witch are your favorite top 5 tracks or first five good songs you think about?
My top 5 of the moment:
1: Kavinsky – Odd Look (ft. The Weeknd)
2: K-os – Man I Used to Be
3: Woodkid – I Love You (Pharrell Remix)
4: Chinese Man – Miss Chang (remix by Tha Trickaz)
5: Black Yaya – Paint Smile On Me
With whom did you worked in the past and with whom do you wanna work? ( artists)
As a DJ, I spent the last 4 years working with Sylvain Armand in St. Tropez as a team, it was really cool and fun to work together!
As a producer I have realized last year my song “Surviving”, co-produced with Dutch soulful producer “Dutchican Soul” and my good friend Stan Courtois from New York.
You can listen to it on my souncloud: https://soundcloud.com/philippeparis
I am looking forward to bew collaborations with friends from Paris, NYC and St Barths.
What are some of the best venues / clubs / parties that you played at?
I have played in many cool spots, but some of the best would be Liv in Miami, Bagatelle and VIP ROOM in NYC, Confraria, Pacha and Buzios in Brazil, Via Notte, Corsica, Nikki Beach in St. Tropez to name a few! And, of course, The Fratelli in Romania 🙂
What is the motto that guides you in your work?
After 25 years behind the decks I still feel “PASSION”!
